Stem cell therapy and plasmapheresis are innovative methods that are gaining increasing popularity in treating a wide range of chronic and autoimmune diseases. At our clinic, we are committed to ensuring patient safety at every stage of the therapy—during the procedure and throughout the recovery period. Below, you can find an overview of what to expect from the treatment and how to support the recovery process.
After the procedure
As soon as stem cell therapy or plasmapheresis is completed, most patients can go home, although at times a brief observation period at the clinic may be recommended.. Immediately after the procedure, you may experience:
- Mild discomfort or fatigue
- Feeling of physical weakness
- Mild pain at the injection site (most often in the arm area)
- Dizziness or nausea (less common)
These are usually temporary symptoms that disappear within a few hours to two days.
The first days after therapy
- Rest – avoid intense physical activity for at least 24–48 hours
- Stay hydrated – drink plenty of water to help cleanse your body
- Monitor the injection site – if redness, swelling or pain occurs, contact the clinic
- Report any disturbing symptoms (fever, severe pain, shortness of breath)
The following weeks of recovery
Recovery after stem cell therapy and plasmapheresis is a highly personal and unique process.Improvement in well-being and the first effects of treatment may appear gradually, over several weeks. During this time:
- We recommend regular follow-up visits to our clinic– they allow us to monitor the progress of treatment and respond to any difficulties.
- You can resume your daily activities, but it is important to listen to your body and avoid excessive effort.
- Inform your doctor about the medications you are taking and do not make any changes without your doctor’s consent.
What to expect?
- Individual pace of recovery – each body reacts differently; some patients feel better a few days after the procedure, while others experience gradual improvement
- You may experience temporary mood swings – this is a natural reaction of your body to regenerative and immune processes
- It’s important to remain patient and stay in touch with your medical team—regular check-ups and following their guidance will make your treatment more effective
